First of all, I would like to thank all of our Japanese friends who donated to support the Palau Judo Kids Christmas Party. As a multiple time Micronesian and Oceania wrestling Champion and Olympic team member for Palau, I am very happy that Palauan children are learning Judo values which are universal and contribute for the building of character and discipline on and off the tatami. What these young Judokas will learn in their training will translate into their everyday life and contribute to their development in their careers and our community going forward. Courtesy, effort, self-respect, discipline, and integrity in the world of competition are values shared by people all over the world who play sports and are involved in sports. The hard work ethics and values I have learned in my international wrestling career and now my jiu jiujitsu journey for Palau has undoubtedly translated over to my daily work as a diplomat representing Palau. I’m grateful for the time I have spent representing Palau as an athlete and look forward to continuing to represent Palau in foreign service and I strongly support our judo federation and am deeply grateful to Japan for their support. I am truly happy that judo connects Palau and Japan. I would like to wish everyone a Happy Holidays and a very Merry Christmas!

ミクロネシアやオセアニアのレスリングチャンピオン、パラオのオリンピックチームメンバーとして、私はパラオの子供たちが普遍的な柔道の価値を学び、畳の上でも外でも人格と規律の形成に貢献できることを大変嬉しく思っています。柔道家たちがトレーニングで学んだことは、日常生活に反映され、彼らのキャリアや地域社会の発展に貢献することでしょう。競技の世界における礼儀、努力、自尊心、規律、誠実さは、世界中のスポーツをする人、スポーツに携わる人が共有する価値観です。
私が国際的なレスリングのキャリアで、そして今パラオのために柔術の旅で学んだ努力の倫理と価値観は、間違いなくパラオを代表する外交官としての私の日々の仕事にも反映されていることでしょう。私は選手としてパラオを代表して過ごした時間に感謝し、これからもパラオを代表して外交に携わることを楽しみにしています。私は柔道連盟を強く支持し、日本の皆様に深く感謝しています。
柔道がパラオと日本をつないでくれることを心から嬉しく思います。
